4700 South isn't quite the 4700 South you want
SR-266 runs through the center of Taylorsville as 4700 South. It's tempting to assume that keeps you on the clinic's street number all the way over, and it doesn't: heading east from City Hall on Taylorsville Boulevard, the highway goes by 4700 South, then Taylorsville Expressway, and carries on as 4500 South across the Jordan River, I-15 and State Street.
Stay with it anyway. At 900 East, turn south; the plaza is a short way down on the west side, just before Van Winkle Expressway.
That's about 6.6 miles, one highway and one turn. West Valley City's route joins the same road a little farther west (see the West Valley City directions), and South Salt Lake comes down 700 East instead.
Taylorsville, Bennion and a broad ridge
Two historic communities, Taylorsville and Bennion, make up the city, first settled in 1848 on the west side of the Jordan River. Bennion Hill is a broad ridge that runs east to west.
Redwood Road and 5400 South grew into a regional retail center back in the 1980s. Salt Lake Community College's Redwood campus is here too, and it hosts the Anime Banzai convention. Picture a convention weekend on your feet with a backpack, or a semester in lecture-hall chairs. Both count.
Commuters sit beside I-215, which has exits 13 at Redwood Road and 15 at 4700 South inside the city, and Bangerter Highway runs past as well. The Midvalley Express bus comes along 2700 West on its way to Murray Central station.
Why list all that? Because the patterns we associate with a disc show up in exactly those places: pain that's worse in the car or a seat, trouble standing back up, and pain that travels below the knee.
What happens once you're here
First, an exam. Dr. Cody Mecham takes your history, performs an orthopedic exam and reviews any imaging that's relevant.
If a disc looks like the source, the plan is typically 20 to 30 sessions over 8 to 12 weeks, each around 20 to 30 minutes, with the DRX9000 working inside a wider plan of chiropractic care and advice on how you position and move. No meaningful progress in the first 8 to 12 treatments means the plan gets another look. There's more on what to expect from spinal decompression treatment.
Some people shouldn't have it: anyone with spinal fusion hardware, a fracture or instability, active cancer affecting the spine, an aortic aneurysm, a pregnancy, or osteoporosis past a safe threshold.
On evidence, we'd call it thin rather than absent. The 2013 Cochrane review judged the traction trials to be low to moderate quality and found little or no benefit, for manual and mechanical traction alike, and the full research breakdown explains why an uncontrolled study like Apfel's looks rosier.
