Salt Lake City, about 7.7 miles down 700 East
Salt Lake City's street grid starts at the southeast corner of Temple Square. That's handy here, because 4700 South 900 East reads like a coordinate on that grid: a long way south, a little way east.
From the City & County Building on State Street, head east on 400 South to 700 East. Then it's 700 East, which is SR-71 the whole way, south for about 6 miles to 4500 South; turn east there, go south on 900 East, and the plaza is on your right before the Van Winkle junction.
The capital's east side is framed by four canyons (City Creek, Emigration, Millcreek and Parley's), and the University of Utah sits up on that side too. None of it complicates the drive. From downtown, the trip is mostly a single road south.
Sugar House, about 5.1 miles from the park
Sugar House takes its name from a sugar beet test factory run by the Deseret Manufacturing Company. Its park has an odder history: the 110 acres between I-80, 2100 South, 1300 East and 1700 East were once the Sugar House Prison, which closed in 1951 and left its land to the park and Highland High School.
The distance is measured from that park. Take I-80 west for a short stretch to the 700 East exit (exit 125), go south on 700 East about 3 miles to 4500 South, then east to 900 East and south to the plaza.
Starting from the business district at 1100 East and 2100 South, by the Sugar House Monument, the number shifts a little. Close enough.
Nine towns, nine different drives
Each town below gets its own page, because the drives really aren't alike. Holladay is the nearest at about 2.9 miles, nearly all of it on 4500 South, and West Jordan is the farthest at about 9.4, with a run up I-15 in the middle.
On the east bench there's spinal decompression near Millcreek, which sits just across 900 East from the clinic, then Holladay and Cottonwood Heights, the city between the canyons. To the south, Sandy and Midvale both sit on SR-71, the state route that turns into 900 East.
West of the Jordan River you'll find West Jordan, West Valley City and Taylorsville, where 4700 South quietly becomes 4500 South on the way east. And flat South Salt Lake, bordered by 700 East, is about 4.7 miles out.

Distance matters more with decompression than with a one-off visit. A typical plan runs 20 to 30 sessions across 8 to 12 weeks, so whatever the drive is, you'll make it a lot.
